Glenmont- Carolyn Sue Carlson-Marion “Sue”, 91, passed away peacefully on August 9th, 2026. Born in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late Charles Douglas and Mildred (Pollock) Ramsey. Sue is predeceased by her husband William (Bill) Marion.
Sue was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose family and friends were always the number one priority in her life. Sue was a 1953 graduate of Nott-Terrace high school in Schenectady and moved to Connecticut where she was a homemaker and grew her family. Sue moved back to New York in 1969 and worked for Winthrop Laboratories and Key Bank before finding her passion as a Home Health aide and caring for others. In this final career, she developed countless deep and enduring relationships with her patients and coworkers.
Sue had a gift for making gatherings feel special. Whether it was a holiday, a family dinner, or simply time spent together, she loved having a house full of family, good food, and plenty of laughter, creating memories that are treasured for years to come. She had a particular knack for making all whom she met feel special, and getting to know them, their families, their backgrounds and passions. This applied to caretakers, her doctors and even the people at the grocery store! She was always thinking of others and never forgot a card for a birthday, holiday, or otherwise. She was so very generous to her family and friends.
Sue is survived by her children Lynn Carlson, Robert Carlson (Pamela), Jeffrey Carlson Sr. (Donna) and Nance Carlson-Yonkers. She was the beloved grandmother to Erik, Emma and Elsa (Rob), Jamie and Jeffrey Jr. (Jeff Sr.), Tyler, Jack, Abby and Bailey (Nance). She is also survived by multiple great grandchildren with twins on the way, several nieces and nephews, and her sisters-in-law Judy Ramsey (Richard) and Sherry Ramsey (David). Sue is predeceased by her siblings, Barbara Lolik, Joan Flanigan, Richard (Dick) Ramsey and David Ramsey.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to her decades-long devotion to the Capital City Rescue Mission, 259 S Pearl St, Albany, NY 12202. A Celebration of Life ceremony will transpire in the coming weeks.
