Carmella M. Galvin

ROTTERDAM-Carmella M. Galvin, 89, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center, Guilderland. She was born in Albany, NY the daughter of the late Guiseppe and Angelina (Gitto) Genovese. Carmella loved spending time with her family, traveling, reading, watching "her shows," and eating chocolate . She also enjoyed going to the casino. Carmella was the beloved wife of the late John L. Galvin, Sr.
Carmella is survived by three children Kathleen Galvin-Davis (Edward, Sr.), JoAnn Heimburg (Frederick, Sr.) and John L. Galvin, Jr. (Jennifer); grandchildren Frederick Heimburg, Jr. (Kim), Edward Davis, Jr. (Theresa), John L. Galvin III (Krystal), Joseph Galvin, Janie Galvin, Griffin Galvin and Brody Galvin and 5 great grandchildren Abigail Heimburg, Ashleigh Heimburg, Monia Davis, Natalya Galvin and Landyn Mccallum. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Carmella was predeceased by her sister Margaret Habiniak.
The family would like to thank the staff at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center, especially the Rosary Unit for their kind and compassionate care of Carmella.
Calling hours will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 11, 2015 at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie with a service to immediately follow at 10:00 a.m.
Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mercy Life Center, 2 Mercy Care Lane, Guilderland, NY 12084 in memory of Carmella.
