Listen to Obituary

Albany- Brian George Boyagian, On April 17, 2026 just days before reaching the age of 74, Brian unexpectedly passed away. Brian was born on April 19, 1952 to the late John Boyagian and Catherine (Bradley) Boyagian at the Brady Hospital in Albany, NY.

He was the youngest of the four Boyagian children. The oldest Jack (Elena) passed away in 2021, Dennis (Patty), and his only sister Suzanne (Suzi) Mucci.

Brian graduated from Vincentian in 1970 and went on to run his own self-employed remodeling business. He took pride in his work and his motto stated on his business card was a quote from his father who taught him about doing quality work and good work ethics: “Do it right the first time”.

Brian was “Uncle Briney” to Dianne, Pat, Marina, Meghan, Katie, Christopher, and Sarah. He was also loved by his many cousins, and great nephews and nieces.

Brian was known for trying to find his own miracle cures when he was suffering from any infirmity. As strange as some of them sounded they seemed to always work for him.

He was truly an animal lover and rescued many stray cats over many years. He loved having his furry friends around to keep him company, as he was a lifelong confirmed bachelor.

The deck and yard of his home was always full of cats, birds, squirrels, racoons, opossums, and the occasional skunk.

Brian became a Jehovah Witness in the early 1970’s and has been part of many congregations in the Albany area. As a tradesman and skilled carpenter, Brian could be found volunteering to build numerous Kingdom Halls and Assembly Halls around the northeast. He readily traveled to places such as Massena, Plattsburg, Rome, Buffalo, Cambridge, Warrensburg, Vermont, and many other areas to add to the construction of places of worship, to the God he loved. As a result, friends in all these areas knew Brian as a tireless worker who would assist others at the cost of his own personal

needs. This moved him to be a hospitable, self-sacrificing neighbor and friend.

You couldn’t be around Brian without hearing him quote a scripture that would pertain to the conversation at hand.

His family would meet people all over the area and if you would mention his name the person would always have such high praises of him as a wonderful man.

Brian was a storyteller about his life. Often, he would reminisce about people he met while canvasing for his faith. He would remember the littlest details others might have forgotten, but the people he met were dear to him even from 20 or 30 years ago or longer.

He always looked forward to his Sunday night phone conversations with his cousin and friend, Kurt Shuman. They would watch a football game or whatever together just to spend time together and stay connected.

His niece, Marina, recently asked “Did Uncle Briney ever raise his voice”? The answer was NO.

He was a humble man who always wanted his life to reflect the one he looked to as his example, Jesus.

His passing has left a deep hole in our heart and he will be greatly missed by both family and friends.

Thank you to his dear friends who helped him through his recent recouperation from knee replacement surgery. Pat Rice for faithfully filling the bird feeders and providing delicious baked goods, Janelle Bove for feeding the cats, and his dear friend Joel Hamilton for supplying him with much laughter and so many other things.
