COLONIE- Betty Jane Coutts, 88, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center with her loving family by her side.
Betty was born on July 31, 1927 in Albany, NY to the late Everett and Elizabeth Steele. She was a graduate of Albany High School. She was a member of the Adirondack Mountain Club and has hiked many of the high peaks. Betty's passion in life was caring for her family. She enjoyed baking, gardening, and animals.
Betty is predeceased by her loving husband of 35 years, Jack Coutts, and her brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Jo Steele.
Betty is survived by her loving children; Patricia (Joseph) Robilotto, John (Uljana) Coutts, Elizabeth (Wayne) Slingerland, Margaret Ann Ruddy, and Nancy (David) Kotch, her nine grandchildren; Jack, Ashley, Dasha, Mackenzie, Bill, Kelly, Kimmy, Gavin, and Trevor, her seven great grandchildren, her sister, Eleanor Stright, and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205, on Thursday, March 17, 2016 from 12:30pm-1:30pm, with a memorial service to immediately follow. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
Donations may be made in Betty's name to the Alzheimer's Association Northeastern New York Chapter, 4 Pine West Plaza, Suite 405, Albany, New York 12205.
