Scotia - Betty J. Grummons, 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 11, 2017 surrounded by her loving granddaughter.
Born on April 17, 1930 in Cortland, NY, a daughter of the late Harry and Jennie Foster Grummons. A lifelong resident of Cortland, Betty moved to the capital region ten years ago.
Betty worked for various factories and retired at the age of 77 after being a Home Health Aide for 13 years. She often donated too many charities; Habitat for Humanity, Humane Society and Boys Town are just a few. Betty loved flowers, which grew her love for gardening. Most of all, Betty loved when family was around; especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Betty will certainly be missed by all who knew her.
Betty is survived by her loving granddaughter, Julie O'Donnell (Rich); grandsons, Joseph McMahon and David McMahon (Rachel); great-grandchildren, Liam and Olivia O'Donnell, Brogan and Ireland McMahon; best friend, Linda. She is predeceased by her son, Harry McMahon and thirteen brothers and sisters.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Schenectady Community Home, Inc; Joan Nicole Prince Home, P.O. Box 2122, Scotia, NY, 12302.
A graveside service for Betty will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 11:30am at Glenwood Cemetery, Homer, New York .
