Barry A. Mackey

August 1, 1951 — June 23, 2025

Barry A. Mackey, 73, husband of Carmella A. Mackey of Rotterdam, NY, departed this earthly life Monday, June 23, 2025 at his home with his loving wife by his side. He was the son of the late Robert A. Mackey & Geraldine A. Mackey. Barry was a 1969 graduate of Colonie Central High School. Following graduation, he took severalart classes at SCCC. Later he held various roles within the industrial and custodial fields. After spending a few decades living in the Midwest, he retired from Springfield Public Schools in Springfield, MO. To his family’s delight, he returned to the Capital District in 2022.

Barry loved hockey and was a devoted NY Rangers fan. He played on an adult league for several years into his 60s. He also loved golfing, flea markets, stamps and sports memorabilia. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending quality time with his family, visiting New England beach towns in summer, always making sure to stop at Mystic Diner when in the area.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Carmella A. (Venditti) Mackey; daughter Heather A. (Mackey) Foley and granddaughter Charlotte Foley of Clifton Park, NY; Charlotte’s father Will Foley of Ballston Lake, NY; sister Pamela (Dan) Bigness of Wilton, NY; brother James (Kathy) Mackey of Yuba City, CA; sister and brother-in-law Rose & Steve McIver of Feasterville, PA; brother-in-law & sister-in-law Louis (Jane) Venditti of Porters Corners, NY. He is also survived by several nieces, a nephew and several great-nieces & nephews, as well as very special extended family members past, present & future.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Ericka Mackey, and sister Sharon Carlina.

A private memorial service will be held in honor of Barry’s life.

A very special thank you to Paul; Barry felt comfort and peace from your care during this time of his life, as well as the Bishop Family for your love and support always. Thank you to all of our family and friends for always being there.
