Barbara B. Zinnershine

April 15, 1950 — July 3, 2018

DELMAR----Barbara B. Zinnershine, age 68, passed away on July 3, 2018, surrounded by her loving family in her home. She was born in Bellevue Hospital in Niskayuna on April 15, 1950, the daughter of the late Myrtle Cooper and Harry Bever.

Barbara worked as a Clerk at the NYS Talking Book and Braille Library from 2007 to 2018. She also worked as a clerk at NYSDMV. She was also an LPN who served patients as a Home Health Aid and in the Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Weston Hadden Convelescent Center and Bennington Nursing Home. She also took on jobs to keep her going such as McDonalds, Dunkin Donuts, MetLife, Wal-Mart greeter and those calling agencies that no one wanted to hear at dinnertime. Mom believed in working hard she did not like to be idle. She loved Psalms 40 and John 3:16 which she taught us as kids. She also loved Romans 8:28 – "That we know all things work together for good to them who are called according to his purpose."

She enjoyed swimming, waterskiing, entertaining and scrabble. She enjoyed being a member the Guilderland Elks #2480 where her and Hal traveled to two Elk Conferences in Reno 2002 and New Orleans 2014 when she was able to visit dear friend Judith Darling. She was also a regular attendee of Emmanuel Baptist Church and Bethlehem Community Church.

Her early years started in Scotia, she attended the Scotia Baptist church where she became good friends with Cheryl Ballou. As the years passed mom moved from Scotia to Burden Lake where she fell in love with waterskiing and met good friend Janice Web. Her dad at this time had Multiple Sclerosis and stayed at the veteran's hospital, her mom worked fulltime and Mom stayed close to her grandparents who shared their love of lake life. The water was something she said she loved. Swimming across the lake was fun for her. In her teens she moved with her mom to Delmar, there she became close friends with neighbor Maggie Peterson. They both got involved with Youth for Christ, and Camp Pinnacle where they waitressed and sang in the choir for evening services. There she fell in love with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Later she married and had Matthew, Scott and Faith. She took the family from Camp to Denver, and back to Camp, on to Westerlo and then to Petersburgh NY. She shared all her passion with those around her freely. She truly loved Jesus and spent a lot of her time praying for those that she dearly loved.

She is survived by her husband Harold (Hal); sons: Matt and Scott; daughter, Faith (Peter); grandchildren: Ashlee and Aiden Winchell; Adeline, Hannah and William Roeske. Also survived by many cousins including Rich and Kim Travis, and many Bever cousins as well as Zinnershine nieces and nephews.
