Barbara C. Karg, 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on July 27, 1937, in Fultonham, New York, a daughter of the late Charles Edgar and Francis (White) Rhinehart. She attended Middleburgh schools and graduated from Middleburgh High School.
Barbara was employed for several years at the Greendale Meatpacking Plant in Prattsville, New York. She spent much of her life as a dedicated homemaker, devoting herself to her family and the people she loved.
An avid bowler for many years, Barbara enjoyed the friendships and memories made through the sport. In more recent years, she discovered a new passion for Diamond Art, a craft introduced to her by her daughter, Katrina. Since 2020, Barbara created between 30 and 40 beautiful Diamond Art pictures, each one a reflection of her patience, creativity, and dedication. At the time of her passing, she was working on a Diamond Art picture of The Last Supper. Although she was unable to complete it, the unfinished project remains a special reminder of her creativity and the joy she found in her craft.
Barbara was predeceased by her siblings, Roger, Brainard, and David, as well as her great-grandson, Bryin Lawton.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 68 years, James A. Karg, Sr.; and her loving children, Eric (Kim) Karg, Duncan Karg, James (Katharine) Karg, Jr., Kenneth (Kay Khaing) Karg, and Katrina (Glen) Nelson. She also leaves behind 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; her siblings, Clarke (Harriet) Rhinehart, Carl Rhinehart, Joan (John) Napoli and Betty Curnow as well as many nieces and nephews.
Barbara's greatest legacy was the love she shared with her family. Her dedication as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother will be remembered and cherished by the many generations she leaves behind. Her creativity, the memories she made with those she loved, and the warmth she brought to her home will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 24, 2026 at Fultonham Union Church, Fultonham, NY.
Barbara will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
