SCHENECTADY-Barbara J. Bell, 75, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2016 at St. Peter's Hospice Inn surrounded by her family.
She was born on July 13, 1941 to the late Raymond and Catherine (O'Connell) Benoit in Albany, NY.
Barbara worked as an Administrative Assistant for Union College and made lifelong friendships that she cherished. Barbara was known for her beautiful smile and her joy for life. She was always happy and upbeat, her happiness was infectious. She loved music, dancing, playing cards, reading and fantasy football.
She was devoted to her family. Barbara enjoyed the times filled with laughter that she spent at their camp at Sacandaga Lake swimming, boating, fishing, having campfires and playing games. She was always present for her family and actively involved in her children's sports and activities and all the special events throughout their lives. Her grandchildren meant the world to her and she never missed an opportunity to cheer them on at a dance recital, school play, baseball, softball or basketball game. She will be missed dearly.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Lee; son, Blake Bell; daughter, Jill (Paul) Feldman; grandson, Andrew (Carly) Feldman; granddaughter, Aubrey Feldman; great-grandsons, James and Jacob Feldman; brother, Joseph (Marsha) Benoit and her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was predeceased by her brother, Raymond (Corky) Benoit.
Visitation will be held Sunday, October 2, 2016 from 4-6 pm at New Comer Funeral Home, Colonie, NY.
A funeral services to celebrate Barbara's life will be held on Monday, October 3, 2016 at 10:00 am at New Comer Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Guilderland immediately following funeral services.
