Niskayuna-Barbara L. DeAmelia, 77, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.
Barbara was born in Albany, NY on November 3, 1939 to the late Reginald and Josephine Leader. Barbara was a wonderful homemaker for most of her life, raising four sons and cooking for holidays for 25 or more of her family members over many holiday years. As her sons left home she started a second career as an executive secretary to the head of Engineering at the large multi-national Schlumberger International Company. She helped develop several presentation videos on computer grid points that she laid out. She was a tremendous cook and baker. People could not wait to taste her pies and cakes. She enjoyed being with family and friends and especially liked spending time at her timeshares all over the U.S. and at Casinos, wherever she travelled.
Barbara is predeceased by her sisters; Dulcie (Charles) Richards, and Beatrice (Wallace) Kramm.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Patrick, her sons; Steven (Kim), Victor, Mark (Stella), and Eric. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Justin, Stephanie, Mark, Kimberley, Isabella, and Nayana, her great-grandchildren; Riley Ann, and Ethan, her in-laws; Virginia (Joseph)Breslin, Frederick (Holly) DeAmelia, and many nieces, nephews, friends, and family.
Barbara's family would like to thank all the staff at St. Peter's Community Hospice Inn for all of their care and compassion they gave to Barbara during her last days.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
