Schenectady- Arnold E. “Arnie” Regels, “the man, the myth, and the legend,” passed away surrounded by love on May 13, 2026, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. Born in Everett, Massachusetts, Arnie was the beloved son of the late Arnold and Veronica Regels.
Arnie is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Carol M. Regels.
Known for his larger-than-life personality and unforgettable sense of humor, Arnie could make light of any situation and leave everyone around him smiling. A familiar face to many, he was a frequent guest at the Tail Gate Tavern in Guilderland at all hours of the day, where friendships were formed and stories were shared. Arnie enjoyed woodworking and was always eager to begin a new hobby or project, approaching life with curiosity, creativity, and enthusiasm. One of his greatest pleasures was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Whether through his jokes, his craftsmanship, or simply his presence, Arnie left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
In addition to his wife, Arnie is survived by his two daughters Kimberly A. Bianca (Mark) and Kathleen A. Plant (Raymond). He was the proud “Baboo” to John Michaelides, Nicholas Plant, Ashley Feulner, Michaela Bianca. He was the great grandfather to Leah Michaelides, Colson Plant & Camden Plant.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals. A memorial service will begin at 11am with inurnment following at Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Lisa Caps Legacy, PO BOX 424, Altamont, NY 12009.
