BELOVED HUSBAND, FATHER, GRANDFATHER, 

PASTOR, BARBER, HUNTER, AND FRIEND 

Pastor Anthony Solomon, 84, went home to the Lord on Monday, August 24, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Anthony was born on July 31, 1942, in Troy, New York, the eldest son of the late Edward A. Solomon and Margaret G. (Carnevale) Solomon. He graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1960 and from the Royal Barber and Beauty School in Schenectady in 1962.

In February 1962, Anthony enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served until 1964 aboard the U.S.S. Protector (AGR-11) during the Vietnam Era.

Following his service, he worked in barber shops throughout the Troy area before opening his own shop, Anthony’s Phase 1, on 4th Street in Troy in 1971. A member of Intercoiffure, he competed in hair shows across the United States and in Japan, Italy, and Greece, and furthered his craft studying under Vidal Sassoon. He was named in the prestigious “Who’s Who in the East,” 1979–1980 edition.

Anthony was ordained in 1986 and became the full-time pastor of Duanesburg Florida Baptist Church, where he was lovingly known as “Pastor T.” From that point on, he served full time in both callings at once, as pastor and as hairstylist. In 2010, he retired after 39 years behind the chair and continued in his role as pastor full time until he went home to the Lord.

An avid hunter and fisherman, Anthony traveled to Kansas, Illinois, and Oklahoma for deer, and to New Brunswick, Canada, for bear. His latest and greatest trip came in 2022, when he went on safari in South Africa and brought home three trophy animals for his Big Game Room.

Anthony is survived by his beloved wife, Billie Jean (Rose) Solomon; his children, Amanda of Rotterdam and Roger of Duanesburg; his stepchildren, Nicole Tommell of Fonda and Ian Abele of Guilderland; his cherished grandchildren, Yuliano Camarena, Debra Solomon, Sully Solomon, Marc Tommell Jr., and Adeline Tommell; and his brother, Edward Solomon (Karen) of Saratoga, New York. He was predeceased by his sons, David Anthony Solomon and Nicholas Anthony Solomon.

A TRIBUTE FROM HIS FAMILY 

It is with heavy hearts that we celebrate the life and loving memory of an incredible man who meant so much to so many. He was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, a beloved family member, pastor, and friend whose love, strength, and presence will be deeply missed.

Anthony loved people, and he found his greatest joy in spending time with the ones he loved. Whether it was sitting around playing cards, going out to enjoy a good meal, watching the latest series on Netflix, or simply being together, he treasured every moment with his family. He was a true foodie who loved trying new places to eat, but he also loved to cook and could always be counted on to make the best of the best in the kitchen.

A pastor with a heart for others, he shared his faith and devoted himself to helping and encouraging those around him. His hands and his heart were always busy serving, creating, and giving, and he loved worshipping the Lord alongside his church family.

He was dedicated to staying active and strong, faithfully going to the gym every day. In his free time, you could often find him searching for hidden treasures at garage sales—one of his favorite things to do.

Above all else, he loved his family and cherished the time he spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and loved ones. He deeply valued the family he built and the people who stood beside him throughout his life. His laughter, his stories, his faith, and the countless memories he created will live on in the hearts of everyone who was blessed to know him.

Though our hearts are broken, we are grateful for every memory, every lesson, and every moment we were blessed to share with him. He lived a life filled with love, faith, family, and simple joys, and his legacy will live on forever.
