Anne Marie Nelson

Anne Marie Nelson, 47, of Albany passed away Thursday, August 27th, 2026 at Albany Medical Center. Born October 6th, 1978, in Gouverneur, New York, she was the daughter of the late Francis A. and Elna Arnold Nelson.

After graduating Gouverneur High School in 1996, Anne moved down to Troy and then Albany, where she worked as a Software Support Specialist and Training Leader by day and was DJ Loki by night, spreading love and joy through the power of music. Anne was a dedicated community builder and constantly volunteered. She served as Board Secretary and Capital Pride Co-Chair for the Pride Center of the Capital Region, Board Secretary and Entertainment Chair for Schenectady Pride, and Board Secretary for Sycamore Collaborative.

Anne is survived by her brother Francis Nelson Jr. of Lexington, KY, her fur babies, Asuna, Kittay, Babygirl, and numerous friends and chosen family.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at 3:00 pm, at the Grove in Vale Park, accessible via Brandywine Ave., in Schenectady, NY with Most Reverend Archdruid Jeremiah Lennox officiating. 

For those joining, please wear purple or comfortable clothing that honors Anne’s joyous spirit. The memorial is outdoors, attendees are encouraged to bring a chair.
