MENANDS- Ann A. Whipple (Alund) was called home to be with the Lord, her family and friends, on Sunday, January 22, 2017, after a brief illness.
Ann was born in West Albany and was the daughter of the late Frank and Maria Ferragon- Scaringe, and wife of the late Joseph Whipple. Ann was a waitress most of her life, working at various restaurants including the Wellington & DeWitt Clinton Hotels and the State Capital.
Ann's sense of humor was inescapable and her tenacity and strength unequaled. Ann was happiest when she was with her family. She is the beloved mother of sons William (Camile) Alund, Jr., Robert (Mary) Alund, Edward (Patricia) Alund, James (Jill) Alund, Frank (JoEllen) Whipple and daughter Barbara Whipple. Ann is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Ann is the beloved sister of Antoinette (Babe) Pantuosco of Springfield, Mass., and the late Mary Venuto, Susan Restagno, Rose (Landers) Downs, Joseph, James, Anthony (Funny) and Vito (Duke) Scaringe.
Ann would not want sadness at this time and the family takes comfort in knowing that there was a seat ready for her in the high-stakes (50 Cents) poker game that she is undoubtedly playing now with her family and friends.
Ann's family would like to thank the staff at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center (Guadulupe Unit) for the care and compassion that they provided Ann in the final leg of her journey home.
