Ann Catherine Vandenberg

Albany - Ann Vandenberg, 68, passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2017.
Ann was born in Philadelphia, PA, to the late John D. Vandenberg Sr., and Kathleen (Curley) Vandenberg. She was the eldest in a family of three, having two younger brothers, John and Tom. Ann was a long-time Capital District resident. Ann graduated from Syracuse University and later she earned a Masters Degree. She had a long career working at the New York State Department of Labor, and retired in 2011.
Ann was exceedingly kind and generous, and especially loved Christmastime when she would painstakingly wrap the many gifts she showered upon her family. She supported many organizations, including those that helped children, and volunteered at the Albany library teaching reading skills, and she enjoyed attending horse races in Saratoga with her companion, Paul Nooney. Ann maintained a witty sense of humor throughout her life and through many challenges. She was an exceptional writer, both in her career and personal life; she always wrote beautiful thank-you notes and had exquisite handwriting.
Ann leaves behind loving brothers, John (Jane) Vandenberg and Tom (Joyce) Vandenberg; nephew, Thomas Vandenberg, and her aunt, Margaret Vandenberg.
Ann is predeceased by her long-time partner, Paul Nooney, and her uncle, Leonard Vandenberg.
Visiting hours will be 2:00 to 4:00 pm, on Saturday February 4, 2017 at New Comer Funerals and Cremations, Colonie Chapel, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A Private Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
