GREEN ISLAND - Ann J. O’Connor, 80, of Green Island, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on April 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Ann was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph O’Connor, Sr., in December 2021, and by her parents, Dominick and Rita Altobello.
Ann lived a life centered on her children and grandchildren, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and unwavering support.
She was the loving mother of Joseph O’Connor, Jr., Kimberly McHargue (Stephen), Peter O’Connor (Desiree), and Christopher O’Connor (April). She was a proud and devoted grandmother to David O’Connor, Pamela O’Connor (Richard Jones), Nicholas McHargue (Raechael Inglis), Allison Mahr (Andrew), Emma O’Connor, Isabella O’Connor, and Luke O’Connor. Her joy only grew with the arrival of her great-grandchildren, Cameron O’Connor, Kylie and Aubrey Jones, and Bailey Ann Mahr, all of whom brought her immense pride and happiness.
Ann dedicated many years of her career to Talbots and the New York State Department of Tax and Finance, where she was known for her strong work ethic and friendly spirit.
Above all, Ann will be remembered for the love she gave so freely. She had a special gift for making holidays magical, especially Christmas, and always made it a priority to be present for her children and grandchildren’s important moments. Whether it was a school event, celebration, or simply a time of need, she was there.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Fresenius Kidney Care in North Greenbush for their exceptional care over the last six months, to her friends and the staff at Evergreen Commons in East Greenbush for their kindness and support, and to The Community Hospice for their thoughtful and compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Ann’s memory may make a donation online at www.communityhospice.org.
She is survived by her family, who will forever be grateful for her constant presence, her strength, and her love. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
A graveside service for Ann and Joseph will be held at 11:30 am on Monday, May 11, 2026 at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville.
