Angelena “Angie” (Choppy) Ogren
June 1, 1936 – September 30, 2025
Albany- Angelena (Choppy) Ogren of 2115 Central Avenue, Schenectady, NY passed peacefully and entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Sept. 30, 2025 following a difficult battle with dementia and more recently a stroke while residing at Teresian House Center for the Elderly.
Born on June 1, 1936, to Italian immigrant parents, Silvio Choppy (a shoemaker) and Mary (Graziano) Choppy (a seamstress), She was the youngest of four children.
Angie attended Vincentian Institute where she graduated in 1954 before marrying and having six children.
During her lifetime, she worked several jobs but most recently, she spent 30 years as office manager at St. Luke’s Church in Schenectady. It was from here she retired at the age of 82.
Aside from her children, Angie loved her home, all genres of music, fresh flowers, coffee, gum and butterflies which she often included in her attire, jewelry and home décor.
Like her mother, Angie was an excellent seamstress and oftentimes made clothing for herself and her young children. She made First Communion dresses for all her girls, Prom gowns and so much more.
She also enjoyed floral arranging, making many of the arrangements in her home herself, shopping, sitting on her porch eating ice cream, and having coffee with visitors in her home.
Angie is preceded in death by her parents, Silvio and Mary Choppy, Her siblings, Louis Choppy, John Choppy and Victoria (Vicky) Scialdone, her husband Harold W. Ogren Jr., her oldest son Harold W. Ogren III, son John R. Ogren and youngest daughter Victoria A. Rickard (David)
She is survived by oldest daughter Diane L. Ogren, daughter Kelly A. LaBelle and daughter Donna M. Rickard (Paul), numerous grandchildren and even more great-grandchildren.
Following her wishes, there will be no visitation hours, only a short viewing for her three surviving daughters, then a graveside service at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 983 Watervliet Shaker Rd. Albany, NY on Friday October 3, 2025 at 2:15pm with her former employer Fr. Dominic Isopo officiating.
