Angela Rose Stammel, (Angie / Ange / Ang), 67, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 after a 5-year battle with stage four breast cancer.
Angela was a loving and hard-working Wife, Mother, Sister, Daughter, Aunt, and Grandmother (Mimi). She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, cooking and baking, and gardening. Ang was an avid ‘birder’ and enjoyed going birding with her friend Beverley Krauss. She was strong, kind-hearted, and funny, and continued to be her true self and do what she loved until her last day.
Angela was born in Albany, NY on April 23, 1959, to Louis Piazza and Mary Piazza (Lo Presti). She worked at Red Lobster for over 20 years, where she met some of her closest friends. She then became a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service, where she made a living for her family for 19 years before retiring in 2019.
Angela is survived by her husband, Wayne Stammel, and is the devoted mother of their three children: Jamy (Amanda) Stammel-Arnone, Christopher (Dipali) Stammel-Patel, and Mary Rose. She is the beloved grandmother (Mimi) of Parker and Kairav. She is the cherished sister to her brothers Thomas Piazza, Louis (Barbara) Piazza, Joseph (Denise) Piazza, and Michael (Annie) Piazza. Ang is also survived by her aunt, Rose Leyden (Lo Presti), brother-in-law Keith (Tracey) Stammel, and her nieces and nephews: Nick, Vinnie, Danielle, Tony, Renee, Nicole, Lyndsey, Breanna, and Zach. Angela was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Mary Piazza, and her best friend, Beverley Krauss.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours for Angela on Friday, September 11, 2026 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Her Memorial Mass will follow on Friday, September 11 at 12:00 p.m. at Church of Saint Clare, 1947 Central Ave., Colonie. Memorials may be made in Angela’s memory via donation to the New York State Ornithological Association.
