Andris "Andy" Simsons

Andris "Andy" Simsons, 74, of Rotterdam, NY, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2026. He was born to the late Biruta Vircavnieks and Gvido Simsons.

Andy met his late wife, Carole, at SUNY Brockport. Upon graduation, they relocated to Albany where Andy built a career in information technology, working for New York State in various departments.

Andy was a devoted dog lover and spent many years fostering dogs and volunteering with local dog rescues. His compassion for animals was a reflection of the kindness he showed to those around him. Andy was known as a loyal friend with a welcoming spirit, a great sense of humor, and a remarkable ability to create a delicious meal out of whatever he could find in the cupboards. He had a way of making people feel at home and will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Andy is survived by his many dear friends and his beloved dog, Scout. He will be deeply missed by the many people and animals whose lives he touched.
