Alice “Nan, Nanny” La Chance, 79, passed away suddenly on June 1, 2025, at Albany Medical Center.
Alice was born in Albany on June 21, 1945, and was a lifetime resident.
At age 13, Alice began working at a tobacco farm. From there, she continued her employment as a waitress, and eventually worked at the Stork Diaper Company, where she would wash, fold and pack diapers. She would retire as a Manager/Accountant from Friendly Home Toys on Railroad Ave in Colonie. She will be remembered for her kindness, love, and strong and tough personality. She always did all she could do to help others, and was loved by everyone.
She was predeceased by her husband, John "Jack" La Chance.
Alice is survived by her daughter, Lisa; son, Victor; son-in-law, Michael; granddaughters, Crystal and Elizabeth; grandsons, John and Raphael; grandson-in-law, Michael; great-granddaughter, Aemilia; and great-grandson, Giovannini; sisters, Eleanor and Patricia; sisters-in-law, Mickey and Aunt Bev. Also survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., with a service to immediately follow at 12 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Interment to follow the service at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
