Albany - On March 16, 2016 God peacefully escorted the spirit of ALBERTA JORDAN from the Saint Peters Hospital to her heavenly home. She was born the on July 28, 1945 to the late Albert and Sophia Raiford Jordan.
Alberta was educated in the Albany School System. Alberta accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Albany, New York. After being away from the church for a while and shortly after the passing of her father, the late Albert Jordan, Alberta joined the Morning Start Baptist Church and became a faithful member of the senior choir.
Alberta always kept busy, working for the Tobin Meat Packing Company as well as Danshire Dry Cleaners as a presser. She was later employed, for many years in the housekeeping department, at the Albany Medical Center Hospital. After such time, Alberta then worked at the Atria Shaker Senior Living facility, also in the housekeeping department.
Anywhere there was music and laughter, you would be sure to find Alberta, doing her signature dance and always trying to get family members to come and sing with her. Although she did not have any biological children, she became a mother figure to many of her nieces, nephews and those who loved her. We will all cherish her memory forever in our hearts and she will be truly missed.
In addition to her parents,, she was predeceased by her sister, Shirley Jordan. Alberta leaves to cherish her memory her sisters, Cora Edge, Joyce Booker, and Gail Hooks; special close friends, Mary Bethel, Barbara Smith, Barbara Grinter and Josephine Gaston, along with a host of nieces nephews family and friends.
Services will be Friday, March 25, 2016 at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 159 Quail Street, Albany, NY. Viewing from 9:00 to 11 am and services at 11:00 am.
