Albert Ray Kniffen

Albert Ray Kniffen, 86, of Loudonville, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2017 with his loving family by his side.

Born in Athens, NY, Albert was the son of the late Alfred and Mildred Ruth (Scott) Kniffen. He was the devoted husband to Dolores Angela Kniffen. They were married 62 years.

Albert was raised in the Coxsackie-Athens, where he received his education in locals schools.

During the Korean Conflict, Albert faithfully served his country in the US Army (1951-1954) and received an honorable discharge.

For many years Albert worked as a self employed carpenter specializing in remodeling. He was the proprietor of Al Kniffen's Remolding in Loudonville.

Albert was of the Catholic faith and was a communicant of Christ our Light Catholic Church in Loudonville.

Albert enjoyed spending time with his entire family and attending the sporting events and musical concerts of his grandchildren. He also enjoyed helping his grandsons build their pine-wood derby cars for boy scouts. While his grandchildren were abroad in the military Albert especially cherished these trips to see them.


Loving husband of Dolores Kniffen, beloved father of, Barbara A. (Robert) Fulston, and Stephen G. (Jeannine) Kniffen, cherished grandfather of; Kevin P. (Jennifer) Fulston, Stephen D. Fulston, Rachel M. (Kaitlyn) Fulston, Eric B. (Tanya) Kniffen, Alexandra D. Kniffen, and great grandfather of; Jarrett Kniffen, Ellie Kniffen, and Adrian Guevara. Dearest brother of; Dorothy (the late Lambert) Nethaway, Ann (Gene) Kelly, and Robert (Beverly) Kniffen. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.


Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, on Thursday November 16, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

A funeral service will be held Friday November 17, 2017 at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 1 Maria Drive, Loudonville, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m.

Entombment will follow the mass at the Mausoleum in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Christ our Light's Food Pantry, 1 Maria Drive, Loudonville, NY 12211.
