Betz, Agnes M (Baranowski), 98, passed away peacefully May 5th, 2026 at Hudson Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Albany, NY.
Agnes was born November 7, 1927 and lived her entire life in Albany, NY. She was a role model for single mothers, raising her two sons alone and supporting her family by working three jobs. She loved her boys more than life itself. She was devoted to her job and treated all the people she worked with like family. She retired from Albany County Social Services after over 40 years of service, at the age of 91 in September 2020, every day after, she insisted she was still going to work every day. She also worked multiple weekend and night jobs waitressing at the Polish Club and Joseph E. Zaloga American Legion Post as well as cleaning offices. She was a regular of the CDTA buses, she knew most of the bus drivers’ names and loved to walk everywhere.
When she wasn’t working, she enjoyed watching game shows and traveling or spending time with her family. She was a very devout Catholic and attended church regularly at St. Francis De Sales and the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Albany, NY.
She was pre-deceased by her son, Joseph H. Betz, her parents Katherine (Kwiatkowski) and Marian Baranowski. She is the last of her many siblings to pass away; Frank Feiden, Viola Baranowski, Janina Baranowski, Henry (Hank) Baranowski, Mary Toomey, Joseph Baranowski, Helen Baranowski, Stanley Baranowski, and Julia Costello.
She is survived by her son Charles (Jane) Betz Jr, her grandchildren Jennifer (Harold) Kussler, Corey Betz, and her great-grandchildren, Jacqueline Kussler, Sydney Kussler, and Ewan Kussler and daughter-in-law Bonnie Betz, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Tuesday May 12th, 2026 from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Albany, NY 12205. All are invited to attend her funeral service following at 6:30 p.m.
Inurnment at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Colonie, will take place privately at a later date.
