Guilderland- Dr. Vilko F. Green, 78, passed away peacefully at home on January 2, 2024. Born in Wolfratzhusasen, Bavaria, Germany he was the son of the late John and Frieda Green.

A constant in Vilko's life was seeking to do what was most honorable and right.

Vilko spent four decades working as a chiropractor in Albany. Like other of his pursuits, he continued to study so he could heal patients to the best of his ability.

Vilko was an accomplished wrestler on the Guilderland High School team. As a young man, he was a serious power weightlifter. Involvement in the martial arts proved to be the perfect fit for Vilko. For thirty years, he trained at the Japan Shotokan Karte in Albany with Sensei Doug Luft He was a member of the Club's sparring and forms teams that won several tournaments in the Northeast. He earned the rank of third degree black belt, and became an instructor. The final step in his martial arts journey was training with Kyoshi Pedro Perez in Myo Suki Ryo Jujitsu. Vilko earned the rank of fourth degree black belt and became an instructor in this art.

Survivors include his partner Elizabeth Pesta of 15 years, his two nephews Tyler Green and Matthew Green.

The family would like to give a special thanks to his neighbors Carol and Frank and Paul, Jack, and Hector who were dear friends of Vilko.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at 1pm at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. A procession will leave New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, NY 12189 at 12pm. Please arrive to the funeral home between 11:30am and 11:45am.
