Daniel B. Eddo
1946 - 2023

Daniel B. Eddo, 77, loving husband of Elizabeth A. (Sullivan) Eddo, of Niskayuna passed away peacefully at home on November 15, 2023. Born June 9, 1946 in Utica, he was the son of the late Michael A. Eddo and Jennie A. (Saad) Eddo.

Dan was a graduate of BCHS and SUNY Albany. While a junior at Rider College, he performed in a USO Tour to the Far East. After returning home to Delmar, he worked at the family business, General Hearing Aids, Inc. Following his father's untimely passing in 1967, he worked side-by-side with his mother until 1975 when he assumed the role of President; a position he held until his retirement in 2015.

Dan developed a passion for music and performing later in life, playing acoustic guitar and singing live at many venues around the Capital District as a solo act, as well as in The Fuzzy Brothers duo. He went on to join the Racing City Chorus and then the Big Apple Chorus, participating in a national barber shop competition in Portland, OR.

Those who knew Dan/Dad/Jiddo enjoyed his infectious laugh, his sharp and occasionally corny sense of humor, his philosophical thoughts and conversations, and clearly saw his unparalleled passion for music. Those who didn’t know Dan would often see him driving around town in his convertible smoking a cigar, usually with the top down even when the temperature was more suitable for ice skating. If you sat next to him at a Yankees game, you had a front-row seat to hear him harmonizing with the national anthem. Family gatherings always ended up with Dan playing and singing much to the enjoyment of everyone who usually joined in regardless of musical talent – all were welcome and appreciated.

An enthusiast of F1 racing, Dan and Betsy saw many F1 races at Watkins Glen and at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve along with several others in the US and internationally. Every holiday season, he would support local bake shops and purchase pies to deliver to his neighbors in a gesture of Peace on Earth and Goodwill to Men.

Like many of us, the holidays were special to Dan. He loved his family and friends, and they love him. He is missed terribly now and always. If Dan were still with us, he would encourage all reading this to tell your loved ones how much you love them and how much they mean to you… not just at the holidays, but all the time.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years Elizabeth, daughter Danielle E. (Eddo) Osborne and her husband Robert, son Michael A. Eddo II, granddaughter Alyssa L. Eddo, grandson Derek D. Eddo, brother Lawrence R. Eddo and many loved cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and brother Ronald D. Eddo.

At Dan's request, he has been cremated and there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Animal Protective Foundation, Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
