LATHAM - Karen Nelson, 76, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Samaritan Hospital.
Karen was born on January 19, 1947 in Albany and was the daughter of the late Henry and Pauline (Parenteau) Picardi. She worked for the N.Y.S. Department of Workers' Compensation Board for over 20 years before retiring. She enjoyed Saratoga Racino, traveling to the Bahamas, doing cookouts for family and friends, attending party and events and her pets.
Karen is survived by her loving sons, Todd E. (Michelle Kruzinski) Nelson and Michael S. Nelson; her adored granddaughter, Paige O. Nelson; her brother, Bruce (Diane) Hamel; a niece and a nephew. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Brian Hamel, David Hamel and Billy Hamel.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
