Richard Carlton Nickerson passed away peacefully at Kingsway Nursing facility on February 26, 2023. He was the son of John E. and Laura A. Nickerson. He was born May 26, 1927 in Pawtucket, RI, where he grew up. He was a graduate of Pawtucket West High School and Brown University where he earned a B.S. degree in physics (Cum Laude).

Dick started his working career at General Electric in Schenectady, NY in 1954, enrolling in the Advance Engineering Program. Upon completion, he worked in the LST-G computer department as a Numerical Methods Engineer. He later joined the Bucket and Rotor Engineering group as a Turbine Design Engineer. It was there that he was tasked with computerizing engineering design and analysis calculations, support manufacturing numerical control machining and integration, bucket design drafting, C.A.D. support and data transfer systems.

After retirement in 1993, he and his wife, Priscilla, relocated to Bethesda, MD. In 2015, Dick returned and lived the rest of his life at the Kingsway Community in Schenectady.

Richard was predeceased by his first wife, Helen; daughter, Debra; and his wife, Priscilla.

Dick asked to thank his friends and staff at Kingsway Community for their companionship and care.

There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held 10AM on Friday, March 17th at Memory Gardens, Colonie.
