Richard H. "Dick Burdo" Burdo
1942 - 2023

Richard H. Burdo passed away at the age of 80 on March 9th 2023 surrounded by his loving
family. Richard was also known by so many as "Dick Burdo" born in Schenectady and grew up in Lake Placid NY. He enjoyed the Adirondacks, camping in his RV and traveling to numerous bluegrass festivals with his loving wife Pat.

Richard is predeceased by his father Herbert J. Burdo, Mother Frieda Smith-Burdo, and brother Robert J. Burdo Sr.

Survived by his beloved wife Patricia A. Burdo, children Christine M. Kennedy, Michael (Valerie) Burdo, Donna (Lonnie) Royer, Grandchildren Danielle (Gar) Elson, Brandi (Matthew) Kasper, Jessica (Christopher) Hallenbeck, Ryan Royer, and also survived by his great grandchildren Evan Frescatore and Braelyn Kasper.

He is also survived by his siblings Harold (Alice), Barbara (Ernile) Brown, Larry (Jeanette) and Donald (Sandy). Richard is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and his Bluegrass family.

Richard was a kettle operator at Schenectady International Inc. for 31 years.

He was a passionate musician who learned at an early age from his father and spent many hours with his siblings perfecting their love for music. Accompanied on numerous occasions by their mom Frieda at the family sing-alongs and jams. He mastered in classic country and bluegrass. His musical idols included Merle Haggard, Chet Atkins and numerous bluegrass artists. He was a board member and musician of the Adirondack Bluegrass League. He has performed at numerous local establishments, most recently The Barn in Corinth and The Corinth Grange.

Richard enjoyed his campfires, smoking cigars and playing guitars. He always had a cooler full of ice cold Coors light beer for his friends and anyone who dropped in. He was also known for his extraordinary dry sense of humor, He enjoyed riding around the campsite in his golf cart looking for deer. He was most notably remembered as being the life of the party, regardless of where he was or who was around.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours on Saturday April 1, 2023 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY, with a time to share memories following at 1:30 p.m. All are invited to further celebrating Richard's life at the Rotterdam Eagles, 23 Mariaville Road, Schenectady, NY 12306 at 3 p.m.

Our family would like to recognize the exceptional support by our fathers physicians, Dr. Saaket Gupta, Dr. Thomas Schumacher and Dr. Vince Carsillo. A warm thank you to the staff at Rosewood Nursing/ Rehab facility to include the exceptional care given to Richard by his nurses Moriah and Coffey. Also, thank you to the team at Fresenius kidney care/Capital District and Westmere Dialysis for the care provided to Richard over the years.

The quality of our Dad's life can be attributed to the love and attention given to him by our mother and lifetime soulmate Patricia.

In lieu of flowers a Go-Fund-Me account has been set up to assist in the numerous non-covered medical expenses.
