1930 - 2022

Salvatore E. "Sam" Schipano, 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at his home.

Sal was the son of the late Pasquale and Katherina (Bella) Schipano.

He was the devoted husband of over 62 years to the late Dorothy M. Schipano.

Sal proudly served with the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a past member of the Guilderland Elks and a current member of the Zaloga Post in Colonie.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed working on small engines, his garden and cooking for his family.

In addition to his parents and his wife Salvatore was predeceased by his sister, Carolyn Meliti and his son-in-law Paul J. Hilston.

Salvatore is survived by his children, Mary Hilston and Sam J. Schipano, Sr., four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, his brother Anthony (Dorothy) Schipano and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd, Watervliet, NY on Tuesday October 4, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday October 5 at 9:00 am. Burial will follow the service in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
