COLONIE, NY – Genevieve A. LeMorta-Kane (Jean), 71, passed away surrounded by her family on May 12, 2022. Born in Albany, she is the daughter of the late Anthony and Jane (Lombardo) LeMorta. Jean was a graduate of Cardinal McCloskey high school in Albany. She went on to work for Delmar Publishers, later becoming the owner of Thoroughbred Graphics.


Jean is the beloved wife of Joseph Kane, whom she fell in love with at the young age of 13, just 58 years ago, at a church bazaar in the South End. They were married for 34 years. She is the devoted mother of Dr. Genevieve A. Kane of Colonie. She is the sister of the late Mary VanGelder and the late Carmen LeMorta.


Jean’s family was her pride and joy. She is the cherished aunt of Anthony (Diane) Geddes, Celine (Gary) Mell, Monique (Bill) Matuszek, Noel Geddes, Charles (Diane) Geddes, Robin Ruse and the late Michael Geddes. Also surviving are thirteen great-nieces and nephews, eighteen great-great nieces and nephews, and a great-great-great niece.
