Watervliet - Donald Richard Baker, 91, passed away peacefully at home Monday, January 10, 2022. He was the son of the late Charles and Lillie Baker. Survived by his loving wife, Gail (Lavinus) Baker and her family - Kristine Riley, Sarah (Jeff) and Ryan Cole, Nathan and Jordan Pasinello. Father to Mark (Beth) Baker; Grandfather to Jonathan (Andrea, Michael and Andrew; Great Grandfather to Ava, all of Lewistown, Pennsylvania. Also surviving are sisters, Erma and Janet, and may nieces and nephews.

Don was a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps and a retiree of Cluett Peabody, Company in Troy, NY. He was a lifelong member of The Elks and Hind Hunters Hunting Camp in McClure, Pennsylvania. Don was an avid bowler, golfer and gardener. He took great pride in his garden. He enjoyed his trips to the Casino. Although these trips were not always fruitful, the ice cream from the buffet at the end of the day made it all worth it. He never missed the 8:00 showing of Mountain Men or watching Penn State play football. The Annual Peanut Butter Eggstravaganza with the Bourgault family brought Don much joy. After retirement, Don spent time working as a starter at Van Patten Golf Course. He enjoyed the good people, good times and good beer at Van Patten.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow the service in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, 1:30 pm.
