Jerry was born on June 21, 1927 in Albany, the son of the late Frederick and Edna (Ross) Stipe. He spent his childhood at Indian Lake. He served proudly in the US Army from 1945 to 1947, attaining the rank of Sergeant. He worked as a supervisor for Sterling Winthrop Laboratories in Rensselaer for many years before retiring. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping and traveling, but most especially spending time with family.
Jerry is survived by his children, Patricia D. Urban, Gerald M. (Lois) Stipe, Ronald F. (Linda) Stipe and James (the late Catherine) Stipe; 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Jerry was predeceased by his wife, Mary Catherine.
A calling hour will be held on Monday, December 6th, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie from 10 to 11 a.m. with a memorial service following at 11 a.m. Interment will be held at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516 in memory of Jerry.
