Richard Anthony Silverio, 90, of Albany, New York, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 9, 2021, with his daughters by his side. Born on Veterans Day, November 11, 1930 in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Giovanni and Rose (Mancus) Silverio. He is predeceased by his wife Maryann (Quaglia) Silverio and brothers Vince (Elenor) Silverio and John (Marie) Silverio.

Richard proudly served in the Korean Conflict and graduated from Drexel University.

He worked for Public Service Electric and Gas (PSE&G) in Salem, NJ for over 35 years as a nuclear engineer, ending his career as their Public Affairs manager. He was a passionate hobbyist for many years, tending to his backyard square-foot garden, building intricate model ships, and painting beautiful watercolors. Always the optimist in life, rarely a morning would go by without hearing him whistle a happy tune.

Richard lived much of his life in Cinnaminson, New Jersey, but moved to Boston, Massachusetts, and then to Denver, Colorado to be a caring babysitter to his two grandchildren who were the highlight of his life. He spent the last four years in Albany, enjoying the company of his daughter Danielle.

Richard is survived by his daughters, Denise Chisholm of Massachusetts and Danielle McLaughlin of Waterford NY, his son-in-law Christopher Chisholm, his son-in-law Jerry Couser, and his two grandchildren, Madeline and Charlotte Chisholm, and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, December 7th from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m at St.Pius X Church at 220 Lawrence Rd, Broomall, PA followed by a funeral mass at 11 a.m. He will then be laid to rest with his family at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery 1600 S Sproul Rd, Springfield, PA. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to “Operation Homefront”, a charity dedicated to supporting veterans.
