Bruce D. Smiroldo

In Memory Of
Bruce D. Smiroldo
1951 - 2021

Bruce D. Smiroldo passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021.

Bruce was predeceased by his father, Charles A. Smiroldo and his wife, Noreen Olander Smiroldo; mother, MaryAnn Smiroldo Warner, stepfather, Douglas Warner and nephew, Louis Grieco.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Hedden Smiroldo of Cohoes; brother, Charles A. Smiroldo, Jr. (wife, Dr. Mary Lassiter Smiroldo) of Corrales, NM; sisters-in-law, Bonny Hedden, Maggie Hedden, Sharon Hedden; brother-in-law, Henry Hedden (wife, Toshi Ani Hedden) and nieces, Amanda Gieco, Korrin Perea and nephew, Eric Hedden (wife, Heather Hedden).

Bruce was a lifelong resident of the Capital District and would never think of living anywhere else. He attended SUNY Albany, majoring in Accounting, but realized that working behind a desk wasn't for him. Bruce was a very hard, hands on, physical worker. He might take a day off if the Yankees were on TV. Otherwise, he would be tending to the needs of his many customers. Whether it was his carpet cleaning business or, later in life, his lawn care and snow removal.

Bruce and his Corgi companion, Lili, were out there "takin care of business." To those who knew him, Bruce could be irascible, frustrating, caring and sensitive. Occasionally, all at the same time. He never smoked, drank alcohol, drove a motorcycle, flew in an airplane or sailed the seas. His feet were firmly planted on the ground and that was exactly where he wanted them to be. He was a good man with a strong faith in God. He was loved and will be missed.

Visitation will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, on Saturday, September 18 from 1:30 to 2:30 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home at 2:30 pm.
