Albany- Louis A. Dobek, 101, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 18, 2021 with his loving family by his side. Louis was the son of the late Peter and Mary Dobek. Louis was the devoted husband to the late Stella Dobek. They were married 53 years.

Louis worked for 50 years as a butcher at the Weisel Meat Market and at McCarrols Corned Beef Palace. Louis and Stella loved to go dancing at the Polish American Center every Saturday night. When he moved to the Sheehy Manor in 1998 he became the life of the party and the soul of the community there. Louis had a zest for life and enjoyed going to church and spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter, Kirsten and his three great granddaughters, Emily, Lauren and Megan.

Louis is survived by his daughter, Florence (Gerald) Borter and son, Joseph Dobek; his granddaughter, Kirsten (Rich) VanApeldoorn and his three loving great granddaughters, Emily, Lauren and Megan.

Louis is predeceased by his brothers, John, Joseph, Walter, Frank and his sister, Stasia.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the St. Peter's Nursing and Rehabilitation staff, The Eddy Visiting Nurses and the people at Sheehy Manor Apartments for their dedicated time to Dad. He was truly blessed to have wonderful friends and neighbors for 23 years.

Calling hours will be held at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, on Thursday July 22, 2021 from 9am to 10am . A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am . Interment will follow the service in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Central Ave., Colonie.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Colonie Senior Services, Inc., 6 Winners Circle, Albany, N.Y., 12205, or Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
