Guilderland- Richard W. Doney, 78, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Thursday, July 15, 2021. Born in Glens Falls he was the son of the late Catherine and Dr. William Doney. Dick is survived by his wife of 48 years, Andrea (Miskiewicz) Doney.

Dick was employed by the NYS Department of Health for 38 years until his retirement is 2002. He was an active member of Christ the King Parish in Guilderland, New York, serving as a lector and a Eucharistic minister at church and to the many members of Atria Crossgate Assisted Living Home. He served on the Parish Council Board for several years. Dick enjoyed photography, traveling and, most of all, spending time with his family. He was a friend of Bill W. since the 1990’s and remained friends with him until the end.

In addition to his wife, Dick is survived by his children; Diane Boynton (Walt), James Doney (Elise), Brian Doney, Karin Baldauf and Drew Doney (Patricia). He is the “PaPa” of Madelyn, Molly, Caleb, Natalie, Colin, Catherine and Amelia. He will also be missed by his siblings; Judy Rosch (Michael), Mary Gecewicz (Joseph) and Thomas Doney and many nieces and nephews.

Dick is predeceased by his brother, David Doney.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children in Springfield, MA.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 from 4pm-7pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, NY 12205. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at 11am at Christ the King Church, 20 Sumter Ave, Albany, NY 12203. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.
