1933 - 2021

Eugene A. Purello, 87, passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2021. Eugene was the son of the late Anthony and Gaetana Purello. Eugene was the devoted husband to Helen Purello. They were married almost 63 years.

Gene grew up in Albany and was a multi-sport star in high school. He served with the US Army during the Korean War. Fortunately, while training in Alaska, the hostilities ended. The G.I. Bill allowed him to attend St. Lawrence University, where he met his wife, Helen.

After relocating to Long Island, Gene received his Masters in Social Work. He worked for and ultimately retired from New York State.

Gene is survived by his wife Helen, his sister Grace, his son Marc and Marc’s wife Laura, his son Greg and Greg’s wife Kimberly and their daughter Amanda. Gene is also survived by many cousins from his family, here in Albany.

Gene is predeceased by many loving relatives and friends.

As per Gene’s wishes, there will be no viewing or services.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Food Pantries For The Capital District at
