James was the son of the late Arthur Fillio and Lillian Batchelder. He was the devoted husband to Catherine (Tracy) Fillio. They were married for over 40 years.
James graduated from Chittenango High School and completed two years of college at Hudson Valley Community College. He proudly served with the United Stats Army National Guard (NYARNG) with the Department of Public Affairs and retired after 30 years of service.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother Richard ("Skip") Fillio.
James is survived by his wife, Catherine, his sister-in-law, Karen Benware, his brother Steve Fillio and his wife Linda, his nephew, Richard Fillio, his cousins Pat Flynn and Gladys Frasier and his childhood friend Byran Hall."
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 from 10:00 am to 11:30 am. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Memory Gardens, Colonie.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society 3 Oakland Avenue, Menands, NY, 12204 or to the Capital City Rescue Mission, 259 South Pearl St. Albany, NY 12202 in Jim's memory.
