Watervliet, NY - Mabel E. Newman, 92, formerly of Sunbury, Pa, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2021 at the Everygreen Commons Nursing Home.
Mabel was born in Sunbury on February 16, 1929, daughter of the late Enoch and Carrie (Wolfe) Neidig. Mabel was married to Vernon L. Newman Sr. who preceded her in death October 28, 1971.
Mabel retired from Burlington Coat Factory in 2000 and from there enrolled in the Silver Sneakers Program at ABC Sports and Fitness in Latham and faithfully worked out three days a week until 2020 when the gym closed due to the pandemic. She made so many friends and served as an inspiration to those who participated in the program.
Mabel was the youngest of 11 brothers and sisters, mother to the late Vernon Newman Jr. and is survived by her daughter, Brenda Ladd, son in law Jon Ladd, granddaughter, Ashley Ladd, great granddaughter Isabella Ladd and many nieces and nephews.
Interment will be held at Pomfret Manor Cemetery, Sunbury, Pa on Thursday, April 8, 11:00 AM.
