(Latham-NY)- Barbara R. Lucas, age 84, passed away at St. Peter’s Hospital on December 26, 2020. Barbara, the daughter of the late Melvin A. Reynolds, Jr. and Grace Reid Reynolds , was born February 21, 1936 in Cortland, NY and grew up in Elmira. Barbara is predeceased by her loving husband Major Robert H. Lucas.
She was a graduate of Elmira Free Academy and Elmira College and earned her MSW from the University at Buffalo. She worked as a social worker in Elmira, Rochester, Buffalo, and Manhattan, Kansas before coming to Latham in 1975. Locally, she worked at Boght Hills School and later was a substitute teacher at the Viking Child Care Center at Hudson Valley Community College.
She is survived by her son, Mark R. Lucas, daughter in Law Aubrie Lucas and a large loving extended family. She will also be missed by her two cats, Binx & Storm.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at 10:30am at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
She was a graduate of Elmira Free Academy and Elmira College and earned her MSW from the University at Buffalo.
