Joanne enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, playing Bingo, reading James Patterson books, watching old westerns, NCIS and Blue Bloods where she developed a crush on Donnie Wahlberg. During their 42 years together, Joanne enjoyed camping with her husband Ed at various campsites around the area, where they enjoyed listening to country music while relaxing with friends by the campfire. Joanne was a woman of strong faith who attended church services with her special friend, Herma.
Joanne is survived by her children, Annmarie, Melissa, Edward Jr. and Joseph Sr. She is the proud grandmother of nine grandchildren; Alexa "Brown Bunny" (Sean), Stasia (Justin), Andrew, David (Jessica), Kaitlyn, Krista, Joseph Jr., Serethia, and Tiffany. She has five great-grandchildren; Charlotte, Lincoln, Victoria, Winnie and a great-grandson on the way. She leaves behind beloved family members that she adored, including George "Handsome" and Gail Ruchel, John Ruchel, and a host of nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brother, Edward Finklestein and was predeceased by her sisters, Sandra and Judith.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm. Interment to follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery,1389 Central Ave., Albany.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made in Joanne's memory to the Hudson Mohawk Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204.
