He was born in Cayey, Puerto Rico, the son of the late Jose Reyes and Maxima Espada. He worked at SUNY Albany for many years, retiring in 2002. He was predeceased by his sister, Martha.
Jose is survived by his wife of 55 years, Amelia Reyes; his children: Kathy Reyes (Ricky) and Jose Reyes; eight grandchildren: Wilfredo, Natisha, Christina, Jennisa, Andres Jr., Nadine, Joey and Angelisa; 16 great grandchildren; sister, Frances and brother, Carlos. Also survived by a host of nieces and nephews who loved him very much.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 from 5 to 8 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, NY. All are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Thursday, January 17 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Americas (old St. Patrick’s Church), 273 Central Avenue, Albany, NY. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Central Avenue, Colonie, NY.
