Northville-Thomas (Tom) Christopher Egan, 97, a former longtime resident of Fort Pierce, Florida and Floral Park, New York passed away on his 97th birthday in Albany, New York.

Tom was born December 5, 1921 in New York City to Katherine Egan (nee Crane) and Thomas Egan, immigrants from the West of Ireland. He was the fourth child of six. Tom spent his childhood in Jackson Heights, Queens.

Tom was predeceased by his wife Catherine (nee Davey), parents, brothers John and James, and sisters Mary and Connie. He is survived by his sister Agnes Patricia Cassidy. Tom is also survived by his children and their spouses, Katherine and Carl Ingalls, Thomas and Pamela Egan, Michael and Diane Egan, Ann Crowley and Connie Egan as well as his 13 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Upon graduation from Baruch College with a degree in Accounting in 1943, Tom entered the US Army and its Specialized Training Program in engineering at the Citadel in South Carolina. In 1944, he was deployed to Europe to fight in the infantry where he earned a Bronze Star. Tom was honorably discharged in 1946 and returned to Queens. In 1949, he married Catherine Davey with whom he built a family of 5 children, living mostly on Long Island.

After WWII, Tom became a Certified Public Accountant and began a long and successful career in accounting and finance. After early employment by the Air Force and in public accounting, he worked for several defense contractors on Long Island. In 1989, Tom retired from Fairchild Weston Systems Inc. where he had spent 29 years, first as Controller, ultimately becoming Vice President and Treasurer and a member of the Board of Directors.
Tom retired to Fort Pierce, Florida, enjoyed golf, bridge, bocce, and socializing with his sisters Connie and Pat and their husbands, and continued his long history of service, volunteering for Meals on Wheels and AARP Tax Aide.

He was predeceased by his longtime companion, Kaye Webbersin.

Tom will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was strong-willed, diligent, family-oriented, fun-loving, selfless, and quietly generous.
