Dominic Colello, 98, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 16, 2018 at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home, with his loving family by his side.

Dom was the son of the late John and Laura Colello.

Dom proudly served with the United States Navy, Armed Guard, during WWII from 1942 to 1945.

He was an Albany Policeman for over 35 years, and retired as a Detective Lieutenant.

He was also a member of the VFW #8692 and the Zaloga Post #1500 in Albany.

Dom enjoyed working out at various gyms through out the area. He was an avid body builder and was on the cover of Muscle Power Magazine in August 1946. He was Mr. Capital District in 1947, the winner of the Best Arms Divisional Contest 1947, Mr. Back Divisional contest winner in 1949, in addition to working out he loved eating out with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his daughter, Dawn; his great grandson, Thomas Brennan; his siblings, Mary Colello, Nellie DeCarlo, Angeline Gully and Harry Colello.

Dominic is survived by his loving daughters, Dianne Stone and Pamela Colello, whom he adored till the end. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 2 great great granddaughters and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, on Monday, November 19, 2018 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
