COLONIE- Shannon Sweeney Chiarello, passed away on October 9, 2018 surrounded by her family.

She was born on August 8, 1967 daughter of Leland and Elaine (Nopper) Sweeney in Albany, NY.

Shannon worked as a nurse for 33 years at Daughters of Sarah. She was a devoted caregiver to her residents and their families. She was also a valued member of the staff and was adored by her DOS family.

Shannon was a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She was an amazing and outgoing woman. She always had a positive outlook and a love for life. She loved being a grandmother and doted on her granddaughter. She passed on her world class shopping title to Ryleigh. She loved to laugh and talk and enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Her memory will be deeply cherished by everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her children, Ashley Chiarello, Michael Chiarello, and their father Harold Chiarello; parents, Leland and Elaine; granddaughter, Ryleigh Chiarello; siblings, Paul Sweeney (Kris), Dan Sweeney (Michelle); nieces and nephews, Samantha Sweeney, DJ Sweeney, Alyssa Sweeney, Mary Sweeney, Jacob Sweeney, Joseph Sweeney, Zoe Sweeney, Emma Mann, Isabella Mann; sister-in-law, Julie Sweeney; aunts & uncles, Gerald Nopper, Harry Nopper, William Nopper (Darlene), Janet Nopper, and many cousins and friends.

She was predeceased by her siblings, Donna Sweeney and Shawn Sweeney, her aunts and uncles and her grandparents.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 15, 2018 from 4-7pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Albany NY 12205. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 607 Central Ave., Albany, NY 12206. Interment will be held at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.

At Shannon's request, guests are invited to show their support for Breast Cancer Awareness and wear pink. To honor her memory, memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
