It is with deep sadness the family announces the passing of Lovie Mae Collins Coleman, 72, on October 3, 2018 in Colonie, New York. Born on April 6, 1946 to the late Thelma Collins in Crandall, Mississippi the first born of twelve. Preceded in death by her sisters Sheila Collins, Patricia Gibbs, Joyce Scott, brother Ronnie Collins, George Collins and Dona Collins. After a courageous battle with cancer she leaves behind her husband of 51 years, James (Jimmie) Coleman, daughters Thelma T. Carter (Tom), Reverend Felicia Collins, Pastor of Bethel African Methodist Church in Schenectady, NY, sons James Coleman, Jr. (Nyree) and Derrick Coleman; and eleven grandchildren: Ariel, Rashad, Kaliel, Qu’ron, Antonio, Jahari, DeVar, Jayson, Tyler, Kayla and Whitney; great-grandchildren Daytwon, Aiayna, Haven, Delonte and Deondre; brothers Eddie Collins (Ann) of Gulf Port, Mississippi, Theodore Collins, Dallas Texas; Frederick Collins, (Janice ) of Meridian, Mississippi, Derriell Collins (Marcelene ) of Columbus, Georgia, and sister Vickie Starks of Meridian, Mississippi; and god children Akeem Guthrie and Lavonia S. Pope ; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.


Homegoing Service will be held on Tuesday, October 9 at the First Congregational Church of Albany, 405 Quail Street in the city of Albany, NY. Viewing from 9:00 – 11:00 am followed by a celebration of life. Interment will be in Memory Garden.
