Albany - Mary Eckhardt, a lifelong resident of Albany, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday September 5, 2018 at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center. She was 90 years old.

Born in 1928, Mary was the oldest child of German immigrants. A graduate of Our Lady of Angels School and Albany High School, Mary worked for 35 years at Tobin Packing until its closing. She made many lifelong friends at Tobin. She then worked at the NYS Auto Dealer Assoc., until her retirement. She was a long-time communicant of Our Lady of Angels Church, and later, Our Lady of the America's Shrine Church (St Patrick’s).

Mary was a giving person who always doted on her many nieces and nephews. She loved shopping, playing bingo, sitting on the front stoop of the house on Elk St. on summer evenings, and later, on the driveway of her Oxford Road home visiting with the neighbors.

Mary is predeceased by her parents, Phillip and Anna, and her brother Edward. She is survived by her brother Richard, her nephews Rick (Meg), Tim (Cathy), and Eddie (Tami Jo) and her many great nieces and nephews, Janet, Greg, Elizabeth (Zibby), Julie, Kara, Aaron, Nathan, and Jacob.

The family thanks the staff at Daughters of Sarah for the loving care they gave to Mary, especially Roz and Sandy.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mary’s name to Blessed Sacrament Shrine Church of Our Lady of the Americas, Office address: 274 Sherman St, Albany, New York 12206.
