ALBANY-Georgia Mae (Dot) Evans was born on January 24, 1949 in Laurel Mississippi. She was the daughter of the late Edward Carter and Annie Lyons-Carter. She was the youngest of eight children born from that union.

At an early age she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and United in Christ’s fellowship with the Sweet Pilgrim United Methodist Church.

She was educated in the Clarke County School District and graduated from Shirley Owens High School, Class of “67”. Georgia worked at Hanson Scales Factory for over fifteen years, and retired due to a disability.

Georgia had many gifts and talents, but she was best known for her love to sing (especially a Canton Spiritual song), love of chatter and laughter, her throw down cooking and especially those pounds cake.

Georgia is predeceased by her parents, Edward and Annie Carter, (Sisters) Velma Lee, Annie Lou, (Brothers) Willie Ed, Andrew “Fox” and James Louis.

Georgia leaves to mourn her children, Desmond (Christine) Cooley, Anthony (LaTonya) Branscomb, Kenesha Branscomb, LaToya Page, Antonio Carter, grandsons DeSon and Desmond Cooley and Jachiea Atterberry, her sister, Hattie Mae (RD) Gilmore, her Brother, John Charles (Betty) Carter, and a host of, nieces, nephews, and relatives.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205, on June 18, 2018 from 4-7pm. Services will be held on June 22, 2018, at Turner Funeral Home, in Waynesboro, MS 39367.
