GUILDERLAND-LeRoy Chesebro, Jr., 95, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2017 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center.

He was born on June 1, 1922 son of the late LeRoy A. and Florence (VanAuken) Chesebro in Cleveland, OH.

LeRoy was a Veteran of the US Army serving in the 168th Combat Engineers Battalion under General Patton in WWII. He was awarded the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, Medal of Good Conduct and WWII Victory Medal. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and boating. LeRoy was a “Jack of All Trades” and worked as a contractor for many years building many local homes.

On June 7, 1952 LeRoy married Betty Pittz.

LeRoy was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Betty Chesebro and his siblings, Dorothy, Ernest, Ruth, Marion, Stanley and Gordon.

He is survived by his children, Marilyn (Kenneth) Schultz, Karen Chesebro, Douglas Chesebro, Richard Chesebro, Nancy O'Connor, Roger Chesebro; grandsons, Justin Schultz, Christopher Schultz, Brian O'Connor, Sean O'Connor; great-granddaughter, Kailee Schultz; sisters-in-law, Rosemary Blodgett, Geraldine Chesebro, and his 2 beloved granddogs, Bailey and Lexy and several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.

Visitation will be held Thursday, December 14, 2017 from 10:00am to 12:00pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205. A funeral service will follow visitation at 12:00pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals. Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at Prospect Hill Cemetery.

LeRoy's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful and caring staff members at Our Lady of Mercy Care for their kindness and compassion to LeRoy and his family during his time there.
