Gary R. Saunders, 64, of Albany, passed away suddenly on Monday, November 13, 2017 at his home with his loving family by his side.

Gary was the son of Marguerite (Augustine) Saunders and the late Charles Saunders.

Born in the Bronx, where he was raised before relocating to Albany. Gary received his education from Brooklyn Tech High School and Bates College with a Bachelors degree in liberal arts. For nearly 40 years, Gary was employed with the State of New York and retired as a Regional Administrator with the Division of Disability Determinations.

In his youth, Gary was an avid basketball player and a bowler. He was a lifelong Yankee fan!

He was also a proud member of the E.A.P. Committee and on the board of the New York Developmental Disabilities Planning Council.

Gary enjoyed spending time with his entire family and loved doing fun things with them.

Cherished son of Marguerite Saunders, devoted father of Victoria L. Saunders, beloved friend of Cheryl F. Kemp, and dear brother of; Kevin D. (Victoria) Saunders, Charles L. Saunders, and Sherlynn Powell. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins as well as many friends also survive.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie, on Sunday November 19, 2017 from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 20, 2017 at 10:00 am from the funeral home, thence to Memory Gardens in Colonie, where the rite of committal will take place. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association, 4 Atrium Dr #100, Albany, NY 12205. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
